Teradek has announced a new H.264 encoder, the VidiU Mini, along with an accompanying iPad Production Suite called Live:Air, (pronounced Live to Air). Live:Air offers a host of real-time video editing tools and support for all of the popular live streaming services. The Live:Air app helps enable wireless production via iOS with a selection of graphics, text overlays, and other visual effects. It also allows for the mixing of live streams with pre-recorded clips, or even switch between multiple live video feeds.
Live:Air’s video management system allows for previewing and monitoring each video source and audio input, as well as to track on-air uptime, and start/stop broadcast from an intuitive touchscreen interface. It enables users to stream to popular video platforms like Ustream, Livestream, and YouTube Live or build a customized Wowza Streaming Engine™ to take advantage of more advanced features.
Working together with a WiFi-enabled Teradek encoder, such as the VidiU Mini, the app allows import from GoPro™, camcorder, or DSLR with every source automatically discovered and configured. For use without a camera, Live:Air can use live video from other iOS devices or you can simply begin streaming with nothing more than an iPad’s built-in camera.
VidiU Mini will be available March 1, 2015 on the Teradek Webstore and through authorized resellers for $499. The Live:Air application will be available to download from the Apple App Store on February 28, 2015 for $99.
