SonyFX9 16 35LensSony Electronics has announced the arrival of their latest digital cinema camera known as the FX6 along with a new 16-35mm Cine Lens.  The FX6 is a Full-Frame Camera developed to offer versatile, cine-style imaging in a compact form factor. The FX6 is said to capture up to 15+ stops of dynamic range via Sony’s S-Cinetone gamma for filmlike skin tones, and up to 10-bit, 4:2:2 XAVC-I recording.  It can stand alone or work in concert with Sony’s higher end FX9 or VENICE when a smaller, lighter weight camera is needed for gimbal or drone shots. With a base ISO of 800, the 4K full-frame Exmor R sensor with a BIONX XR engine can reach ISO 12800 for low-light cinematography.

Weighing just under 2 lb, the FX6 body is a full 2 lb lighter than the FX9 and measures 6 x 4.6″.  Features include fast and accurate phase-detection autofocus, both auto and manual ND filter settings for quick exposure compensation, and a 3.5″ LCD monitor with touchscreen access to key menu settings.

The new FE C 16-35mm T3.1 G E-mount Cinema Lens also joins the Sony Cinema Line to pair with FX6, FX9 and other full-frame Sony cameras. This E-mount lens supports intelligent shooting functions such as extremely accurate AF for working with shallow depth of field, a circular 11-blade iris for pleasing bokeh, and Nano AR (Anti Reflection) coating, to reduce flare.

The new FX6 will be available in December with an MSRP of $5,999.99 USD and the FE C 16-35mm T3.1 G lens will also be available in December at $5,499.99 USD.
