It has been a long wait for fans of SIGMA lenses who wanted to use them on Canon RF Mount cameras. The Canon RF Mount was introduced in 2018, and since then, the range of EOS R cameras has become increasingly popular as DSLRs began to wane and mirrorless cameras became the new industry standard. It has finally been announced that per a license agreement with Canon, Inc. SIGMA will be developing a range of lenses in RF mount including:

  • 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary
  • 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary
  • 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary
  • 23mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary
  • 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary
  • 56mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary

Although designed primarily for Canon’s crop-sensor camera bodies, the new lenses will offer good compatibility with Canon EOS R cameras; (automatically cropped at 1.6x on the camera body side as necessary). The 18-50mm will be available in July 2024, with the remaining models releasing at later dates, starting in Fall 2024. MSRP TBD.
