Perhaps somewhat lost in the Pre-Cine Gear Expo announcements from SIGMA, (which included the very impressive Aizu primes,) was the development of the new AF Cine Line. This marks Sigma’s first AF-compatible full frame cine lens series featuring mirrorless-dedicated still lenses rehoused for cinema use.

Building on the optical system of Sigma’s Art lenses, the AF Cine Line is designed to offer excellent rendering performance along with high-precision autofocus with tracking capability combined with the ergonomics required for multiple shooting styles and on-set environments. Key features include the advanced optical designs of the highly acclaimed still lenses: the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art and the Sigma 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN | Art. The new lenses also benefit from the reliability of Sigma Art lenses with the AF Cine Line now integrating cinema-style mechanics and operability optimized for professional cinema production. The new lenses also feature a limited-rotation focus ring, industry-standard 0.8M pitch gears, and a clickless aperture ring.

The AF system is equipped with a linear motor HLA (High-response Linear Actuator), for silent, yet rapid focus shifts in gimbal or handheld shooting for reliable support for filmmakers in various shooting situations. Available in both L-Mount and E-mount, the Sigma 28-45mm T2 FF will launch in November of 2025 and the Sigma 28-105mm T3 FF will arrive in Spring of 2026.
