As usual, AJA brings a lot of innovation to show off at NAB; it is more in the form of software rather than hardware. They have unveiled a number of updates to their ColorBox solution for real-time color managed workflows that users can access with a free v2.1 update.

Colorbox v2.1 free update highlights include:
– 4K/UltraHD down conversion feature for SDI and HDMI outputs
– 4K/2K Crop for the HDMI output
– New ACES Pipeline with support for AMF processing
– ARRI Wireless Video Optimized LogC4 (WVO) support
– SDR Preview for Colorfront Live Mode
– BBC HLG LUTs v1.7

AJA FS-HDR v4.3 and FS4 v3.1
Improvements are also being announced for AJA’s FS-HDR real-time HDR/WCG converter and frame synchronizer giving users more flexibility in the field. Available soon, v4.3 firmware for FS-HDR and v3.1 for FS4 adds a motion adaptive deinterlacing control, and delivers an improved, user-configurable channel to channel HFR sync control. For FS-HDR, the update also includes the latest BBC HLG LUTs v1.7.

AJA BRIDGE LIVE v1.16
The latest update for BRIDGE LIVE introduces new features to the IP video workflow bridge. The update brings a new Rocky Linux 9 operating system, SRT v1.5.3 Bonding, NDI v5.6 with multiple discovery server support, and a new monitoring dashboard. AAC-HE v2 encoding/decoding, 20-bit Dolby E pass-through, and SEI timecode insertion are also included in the update, which is expected to release soon.

AJA Desktop Software 17.1
AJA Desktop Software has also been improved for the AJA KONA, Io, and T-TAP products with new features gained from the Desktop Software v17.1 update. It enables passing of metadata such as SCTE-104, Dolby Vision, Closed Captioning, and SMPTE Timecode, and also adds Thunderbolt support on Linux.

AJA Diskover Media Edition v2.2.3
The latest update for AJA’s data management and curation software offers new features and enhancements that streamline user workflows and provide more flexibility. A new arrival date attribute, plug-in for Autodesk Flow Production Tracking (previously ShotGrid), and improved navigation, task panel, and analytics are all part of the latest release.

AJA Announces Free Stream Deck Plug-in for HELO Plus
Last, but not least, AJA has released new software for their HELO Plus compact streaming and recording device. The software allows HELO Plus users to access the popular Elgato Stream Deck desktop controller for simple, immediate hardware-based control. Compatible with Elgato’s entire line of Stream Deck devices on Windows and macOS, the plug-in is now available at no cost to HELO Plus and Stream Deck users on the Elgato Stream Deck Marketplace. In addition to providing the ability to start and stop HELO Plus recording, the plug-in also enables users to:

  • Select the input for use in a streaming/recording session – SDI, HDMI, internal test signal, and/or layout engine (allowing simultaneous use of the HDMI and SDI inputs), providing a higher level of operational flexibility
  • Lock stream and record functions for simultaneous operations
  • Initiate AV Mute mode on HELO Plus for manual ‘live’ stream start/stop
  • Recall up to 10 layouts, helping to improve production value
