RSVPs are now being accepted for the Digital Cinema Society’s exploration of Motion Picture Lighting and Grip Technology. The event will return to the IATSE Local 80 stage in Burbank, CA on May 21st.
Our 2020 Expo was the last major in-person event to take place before the pandemic lockdown and our 2021 edition had to be cancelled when new variants were on the rise. We now feel that it will once again be safe to congregate and are looking forward to carrying on this very popular tradition…utilizing safety precautions, of course.
We will bestow the first annual “Dibie Award,” given in memory of George Spiro Dibie, who worked tirelessly to help to educate our industry about motion picture lighting. This year’s recipient will be Frieder Hochheim, a former Gaffer and Founder of Kino Flo who exemplifies George’s spirit in freely sharing his knowledge with the entertainment lighting community. The award will be presented by special guest John Swartzman, ASC. Other special guests include David Klein, ASC and George Mooradian, ASC.
