RSVPs are still being accepted for the Digital Cinema Society’s exploration of Motion Picture Lighting and Grip Technology. The event will return to the IATSE Local 80 stage in Burbank, CA on Saturday, March 18th. Get hands-on with the latest gear and learn from practical lighting demos by renowned cinematographers and lighting experts.
We will also bestow our second annual “Dibie Award,” given in memory of George Spiro Dibie, the multi-Emmy winning Cinematographer and longtime president of the International Cinematographers Guild who worked tirelessly to help to educate our industry about motion picture lighting. This year’s recipient will be John Gresch, who recently retired after 36 years with ARRI. John exemplifies George’s spirit in freely sharing his knowledge with the entertainment lighting community. The award will be presented with the assistance of John’s longtime friend, Donald A. Morgan, ASC. Other special guests include Cinematographer Ana M. Amortegui Director of Photography on the popular NBCUniversal series Quantum Leap, a reimagining of the classic 90s sci-fi series originally photographed by our own Roy Wagner, ASC.
