Panasonic Unveils New 4K HDR Broadcast Camera Featuring B4 Mount
Panasonic has announced the addition of the AK-UC4000 broadcast camera to its camera line. The camera has a newly developed large 4.4K sensor sampled down to a 2/3″ image area to accommodate a B4 lens mount. Beyond 4K sampling improves the UHD resolution (more than 2000 TV lines, both horizontal and vertical), dynamic range and S/N ratio (62dB) enabling cinema camera HDR performance with broadcast optical lenses. This technique will enable broadcasters and documentarians to take advantage of the smaller form factor, extended zoom ratios, expanded depth of field, and faster t-stops of broadcast lenses compared to cinema lenses.
The UC4000 is designed for live sports production and high-end event broadcasts. The camera will be available in March 2018 with a suggested list prices of $40,000US.
