Over the last decade Laowa has developed a wide range of unique lenses that cater to different needs and preferences, such as ultra macro, wide-angle, and anamorphic cinematography. With the start of IBC 2024, they are introducing many more models to this diverse line up.  New to their offerings are the Sword Macro Full Frame Cine, the Ultima 12-120mm T4 8K S35 Broadcast Zoom lens, new Nanomorph LF 1.5x anamorphics, a 60mm macro S35 1.5x anamorphic, and two additions, (28mm &100mm,) to the Proteus Series of S35 2x anamorphics.

The Sword Full Frame Cine Macro Series features 6 focal lengths (15mm T4.1 1X, 25mm T2.9 1X, 35mm T2.9 1X, 60mm T2.9 2X, 100mm T2.9 2X, 180mm T4.6 1.5X) in ARRI PL mount, with additional Canon EF and mirrorless bayonets available for purchase. These lenses allow extreme close focusing distance and up to 2X magnification.

The Nanomorph LF 1.5X Anamorphic Series offers an LF version of the S35 1.5x anamorphic series of the same name. This lineup includes lenses in 32/42/55/85mm with a constant T2.9 aperture and various mount options including ARRI PL and optional Canon EF plus other mirrorless mounts. The Nanomorph LF 1.5X lenses can cover the Alexa LF sensor in Open Gate format and offer good image quality with low distortion. Each weighs about 1kg and comes in blue, silver, and amber flare versions. Some wider lenses can focus up to 49cm / 1’7″, providing a great depth of field when required.

Also new to the Macro Anamorphic Lens line is the Nanomorph 60mm for S35. This lens adds to the S35 1.5X anamorphic series, producing 1.5x squeezed images at a close focusing distance of 24cm up to 0.5X magnification ratio. The lens will be available in ARRI PL mount in default with additional Canon EF & mirrorless bayonets, and also offers blue, amber, and silver flare options to cater to different artistic choices.

Meanwhile, new 28mm and 100mm focal lengths are being added to the Laowa Proteus Series for Super 35 sensors with a 2X constant squeeze ratio. This series now comes in 8 focal lengths (28/35/45/60/85/100 ready to order, 20/135 due in early 2025) and features a universal T2 aperture, delivering excellent image quality and consistent classic anamorphic characteristics including elliptical bokeh and signature flares with blue, amber and silver options.

The 8K Broadcast Zoom lens – Ultima 12-120mm T4 for S35 is Laowa’s first entrance to the 8K broadcasting market. This 8K S35 10X Broadcast Zoom features a constant T4 aperture. It can be paired with an optional Movcam Servo Unit for convenient control of focus, zoom, and aperture during fast-paced or studio ENG/EFP work. Currently available in ARRI PL mount, a B4 mount version may be offered in the future based on market demand.

The Argus T1 Cine Series lenses are available in Full-Frame, Super35 & MFT formats, with focal lengths ranging from 18mm to 45mm.
