In the run-up to NAB 2026, Blackmagic Design’s Grant Petty delivered a jam packed online presentation running over two hours in which he gave new product updates and laid out their future technology roadmap. The many products that he covered ranged from DaVinci Resolve 21, new Fairlight Audio features, and lots of SMPTE 2110 video enabling hardware including switchers, recorders, encoders, storage, and standards converters. The Camera technology that he discussed mostly included updates that will help facilitate the use of Blackmagic cameras for a wide range of live production scenarios. These include using the URSA Cine 12K LF for highspeed and offering a live solution with the URSA Cine Immersive 100G, which is quite a feat when dealing with images running 8K x 8K per eye.
Here are some highlights:
DaVinci Resolve 21 (DaVinci Resolve 21 public beta is available for download now from the Blackmagic Design website)
– Adding a new Photo page, which enables colorists and photographers to use Resolve’s advanced color tools for still photos.
– New AI tools such as IntelliSearch for fast content searching, CineFocus for focal point adjustment, tools for facial refinement, and lots more.
