DCS congratulates one of our founding members, George Mooradian, ASC on receiving the Karl Kresser Heart of the Community Award at Cine Gear Expo on June 6, 2025. The honor was presented by another longtime member, fellow cinematographer, Michael Goi, ASC along with Juliane Grosso, the Co-Founder & CEO of Cine Gear Expo. Juliane established this award in 2023 in memory of her Cine Gear Co-Founder, Karl Kresser who passed away in 2022.

Kresser and Grosso started Cine Gear Expo nearly three decades ago with the idea to create a new industry event open to anyone who shared an enthusiasm for cine technology, the artists who use it, and the stories that are brought to life. Karl believed that the industry is enriched by striving for goals like inclusion, diversity, and education. This award was established in his name to recognize individuals who selflessly forge paths enabling others to satisfy their creative passions and George Mooradian, ASC, certainly deserves to be honored for his tireless service to the community.

Besides being a member of DCS, George is a member of the ASC and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He is also a dedicated educator and mentor, often integrating student interns into his productions and has taught at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Mooradian established his cinematography career shooting numerous Indie feature films before moving into series television where his work has earned numerous accolades including seven Emmy nominations and one win.
