We are extremely sad to report the passing of a close Friend of DCS, Bryce Button, the longtime Director of Product Marketing at AJA Video Systems. Robert “Bryce” Button-Greer passed unexpectedly on May 19th at the age of 57 due to heart complications.
Bryce was a true pioneer in the area of non-linear editing, authoring a book on the subject, and becoming one of the preeminent trainers of the nascent technology. Originally from South Africa, Bryce moved to London, and then to the U.S., eventually settling in the Denver Colorado area. Before becoming an Editor and co-owner of Through Line Post, a renowned editing house, Bryce had already enjoyed a varied career in the entertainment industry, including stints as a Child Actor, Assistant Director, and Musician. He worked at Autodesk for a number of years before moving to AJA in 2009.
Bryce is survived by his two sons, Morgan and Colton, as well as his longtime partner, Kristine, and her two children, Audrey and Liam, who loved Bryce like he was their own father. Services are planned for May 24th from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Parker Funeral Home in Parker, CO 80138.
If you would like to hear a little more about Bryce and his esteemed career in his own words, you can find a recent interview he did for The Making Of podcast here: https://themakingof.substack.com/p/a-life-in-the-industry-with-bryce
