Canon has announced additions to its lineup of compact cameras and lenses tailored for social media creators and video storytellers.
The cameras include the compact, but powerful PowerShot V1 and the EOS R50 V. The new V series cameras build on Canon’s iconic point-and-shoot with a brand new 22.3-megapixel sensor. The PowerShot V1 features a full-frame equivalent 16-50mm f/2.8-4.5 built-in wide-angle zoom lens, a 3” vari-angle LCD touchscreen, and enhanced video capabilities with built-in live-streaming technology, and fast Dual Pixel AF II for stills and video.
The EOS R50 V is a compact, movie-focused camera with an interchangeable lens option. Weighing less than a pound, the camera features a 24MP APS-C sensor and DIGIC X processor that shoots a cropped 4K60p and 4K30p with the sensor’s full width. It records up to 4K 60fps, in Canon Log 3 delivering pro-grade results.
Also newly announced is the RF20mm F1.4 L VCM, a Hybrid prime lens with f/1.4 large aperture designed for ultra-wide versatility. Features include manual control of focus and aperture for use in video applications, precise autofocus ideal for use in video, with multiple lens elements and coatings to correct for aberrations and glare. The lens has a 7.9” minimum focus distance, takes 67mm front filters, and has a user-programmable function button. With its wide aperture and field of view it is designed to work well in low-light and low depth-of-field situations.
The PowerShot V1, EOS R50 V, and RF20mm F1.4 L VCM are available starting April 2025. For more information, visit: https://www.usa.canon.com/explore/eos-powershot-v-series
