Blackmagic Design Has Slashed In Half The Cost Of Blackmagic Cloud Storage

In a move that is not atypical for Blackmagic Design, they have dramatically cut the price of a product to make it more accessible to a larger customer base.  In this case it is their Blackmagic Cloud media storage service. Until now the price has been US$30 per TB per month, which at this cost, reduced the number of people who could use Blackmagic Cloud services for global post production workflows. Now the new monthly price has been cut by half and will be US$15 per TB. This reduction has been made possible by improvements to their data center backend and should allow more people to access Blackmagic Cloud storage for media sync. This will allow more customers to share DaVinci Resolve products worldwide so that editors, colorists, visual effects artists and audio engineers can more easily collaborate.

Not only is Blackmagic Cloud built into DaVinci Resolve, it is also built into most Blackmagic Design cameras as well as the free Blackmagic Camera app on iPhone and Android phones.  Blackmagic’s latest cameras, such as the Cinema Camera 6K, PYXIS, URSA Cine and URSA Broadcast G2, can record a full resolution HD proxy in H.264. These files are live synced to Blackmagic Cloud as they are recorded, and then also live synced down to all DaVinci Resolve workstations that are connected to the same cloud project. All the user needs to do is connect to the project which they can see in the camera user interface; the rest is automatic. This workflow is similar to live streaming into the edit software. If the user starts playing, the playback will never end as the media is syncing into the viewer just in front of the play head. The editor can see the play indicator jump back as each segment of clip arrives and the clip continues to grow in length. Plus the clip icon in the bin will show a red record indicator to show this clip is still recording on the remote camera. For more information, please go to www.blackmagicdesign.com

Signing up for an account gives you 2 gigs of free storage. So its a good way to test out their cloud platform for free with the free 2 gigs of storage
