Blackmagic Design Unveils URSA Mini Broadcast – B4 Mount UHD Studio/ENG Camera
In an on-line presentation on February 1st, Blackmagic Design’s Founder, Grant Petty unveiled several new broadcast products including a new addition to their USRA line of cameras. The URSA Mini Broadcast is a single sensor camera designed to work with ubiquitous B4 mount broadcast zoom lenses. However, as with other URSA cameras, it can be converted to a wide variety of mounts including EF, Nikon, and PL with an available adapter.
It records either a variety of HD formats, (DNX, ProRex) to SD cards or UHD to Cfast, (2 card slots for each). It can even record RAW, and is said to have 12 stops of dynamic range. With a very affordable price of $3,495US, and the ability to use legacy B4 lenses, it is designed to help broadcasters more easily move up to UHD. It also offers great versatility to function as either a Studio camera, or for ENG/EFP applications.
