Blackmagic Design has announced the availability of Blackmagic Camera 4.0 Public Beta for URSA Mini, a major new camera operating system and user interface, which was previewed at NAB 2016. New exposure and focus tools are now available as well as improvements to the information displayed to the EVF and assignable LUT’s to different outputs. The new URSA Mini camera OS also provides much more flexible media formatting, card usage, and recording information as well, making it easier for customers to know exactly how much more shooting time they have left and when they should switch cards.
To simplify camera setup and use, all basic settings are located under 5 easy to access tabs called Record, Monitor, Audio, Setup, Presets, and LUTS. The Record tab lets customers quickly select codec, quality, and resolution, while also setting up dynamic range, frame rates, sensor windowing and more.
Of note, the entire software code that runs in URSA Mini cameras has been replaced with many of the various features of the camera actually now running as apps. This will allow Blackmagic Design to develop features much faster than before. Blackmagic Camera 4.0 Public Beta is available for download free of charge for all Blackmagic URSA Mini customers.
