Blackmagic Announces New ATEM Television Studio HD8, Studio Camera 6K Pro, and ATEM Mic Converter Plus Price Drop on Blackmagic Cloud Store

Grant Petty, founder and CEO of Blackmagic Design, took to his traditional mode of product announcement with a webcast detailing several new products including the ATEM Television Studio HD8, Studio Camera 6K Pro, and the ATEM Mic Converter; (link follows). Also keeping with tradition, there are a lot of features packed into the products at very reasonable prices. There are actually two new ATEM Studio configurations, the ATEM Television Studio HD8 (available now, US$2,995) and the ATEM Television Studio HD8 ISO (available now, US$3,995). This new family of all-in-one live production switchers combine broadcast features with extreme portability. They both feature broadcast grade control panels with features such as streaming and recording, and the ISO model can record all video inputs and can connect to up to 8 remote cameras. The new switchers are designed to also support live streaming, talkback and optional internal storage.

The new Blackmagic Studio Camera 6K Pro, (available now at US$2,495,) features a larger 6K sensor for improved colorimetry and fine detail handling, an EF lens mount, ND filters and built in live streaming via Ethernet or mobile data. The Blackmagic Studio Camera 6K Pro shares the same compact all-in-one design of the studio camera family with a lightweight carbon fiber reinforced polycarbonate body, integrated 7″ HDR viewfinder, and an array of connections including 12G-SDI, HDMI, and single 10G Ethernet allowing for SMPTE fiber style workflow. Also announced was theBlackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 (available now, US$1,865), an updated model that now includes built in live streaming camera control, talkback and tally. You also get the same HDMI output with control features plus the 10G Ethernet connection allows all connections on a single cable for a SMPTE style workflow that’s much lower cost.

The new ATEM Microphone Converter, (available in 2023 Q2 for US$395,) is a new audio analog-to-digital converter that allows for adding multiple additional microphones to the new ATEM switcher models. Featuring a MADI connection, it means customers don’t have to configure any complex settings because the connection is a simple BNC cable. The design features high quality with an extremely low noise floor of -129dBV, a dynamic range of 131 dB(A), low distortion of 0.002% and uniform tolerances across all channels. In other Blackmagic news, the company has announced new lower prices for their Blackmagic Cloud Store family of high performance network storage. The Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini 8TB is now reduced by $640 to $2,355, Blackmagic Cloud Store 20TB is reduced by $2,000 to $7,595 and Blackmagic Cloud Store 80TB is reduced by $7,000 to $22,995. These price reductions have reportedly been made possible by better sourcing of the high speed flash storage memory used in the Blackmagic Cloud Store models.  For more details, visit: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagiccloudstore
