In advance of the previously scheduled opening of NAB, ARRI has announced a major update to their popular lighting control app known as Stellar. Stellar 2 is an intuitive user interface for advanced network configuration and management with new features including the ability to control third party units and to manually add fixtures with no RDM required. The app also gives empty DMX slot suggestion, the ability to easily swap out fixtures, grouping of different CCT ranges, configurable default intensity, and more live data.
Stellar 2 not only controls ARRI’s full line of instruments, but also many lights from other manufacturers including Litegear, Astera, and Kino Flo. A set of generic dimmers can even be set up to work with tungsten lights (on a DMX dimmer). With Stellar 2, the correct DMX addresses can be assigned to the luminaires in only a couple of steps. Fixtures can be easily exchanged without affecting the setup, even if the fixture has not been in your setup before.
Stellar 2 is able to accommodate a variety of unique requirements. Fixtures with different CCT ranges can now be grouped and intensity values can be stored as the default by simply storing it as a favorite in the app settings. The intensity will also remain at the same level throughout all modes. Additional fixture data includes RDM functionalities such as temperature and mode information to display in the fixture setups. Several smaller enhancements have also been introduced as well including a trial phase expiry warning, smoother looks application when no color mode change is necessary, improved connectivity handling, presets that apply on different fixtures, and minor usability, layout, and stability improvements. Stellar 2 will be available on the App Store and Google Play. More information is available at: www.arri.com/stellar
